As does a very helpful robot voice, whenever I call Queenie, “Kim.”

December 25th, 2011.  Merry Christmas, happy Yuletide, and Sexy Saturnalia!

In this Yuletide and Year-End episode of Kakophonos, we explore the season’s age-old themes of family, festivity, strong drink, sexuality, and blood.

Right off the bat, we present a Kakophonos Exclusive: the latest installment of Vril Stein Brüe commercial series, featuring none other than Sinterklaas and Krampus!

Then, Franco Minatel of Soulbody.ca takes us through the Wheel of the Pagan Festival Year, in The Tale of the Oak King and the Holly King [click for accompanying text].  He explains the reasons why we celebrate various holidays around the year, as told from the perspective of the Holly King (darkness) and the Oak King (light).  Find out why we deck the halls with boughs of holly!

And then we meet the enchanting new band, Wychwood Children.  It is an alchemical elixir of Musick and Magick conjured together by manifester and healer, Jenny Robert from Timmins Ontario, and hermetic magician, Rikki LaCoste of Toronto, two beloved musicians in their own right, conjuring music together for less than a year.  Music from their debut album, Drifting, will be heard throughout the episode.

Next, we have a conversation with author Kimberly Steele (The Kim), and listen to excerpts from her hot novel and audiobook, Forever Fifteen.  It is smart, sexy, original, and thrilling.  Plus, another Kakophonos exclusive: Kimberly reads an excerpt from Forever Fifteen’s sequel!

And finally, we have a chat with Austin Lawrence, of Raven’s Knoll.  We explore the season of Yuletide, from the perspective of a Heathen.

First, Wolfgang’s freunde sings a Viking lullabye using a megaphone;  then Rikki talks about the life and mind of Agrippa (who might have been a secret agent of the Renaissance);  then Saturn Darkhope promotes her podcast, Pennies in the Well,

as do Mojo and Sparrow of the Wigglian Way.

Throughout the episode, we hear commercials about an all-new season of Reality TV shows from the Thelema Channel (channel 93).

We then hang out with – and eventually howl with – the Blue Raven Drummers;

Wolfgang swears at an eleven-year-old;  we Aspetta with Thoth Ganesh;

then Austin Lawrence and Carl Orff endorse the the show … well, Auz does (Orff is dead);  and Jeremy Tool gives us an exclusive sneak peek into a big upcoming surprise this summer.

Then Rikki does his gushy thank-you thing, and says 93 at you. Oh, and there’s a few Outtakes too.

The Greater Feast of Edgar Cayce

In this episode, a pepperpot beats the hydraulics out of another pesky robot; then we learn about the Sleeping Prophet, Edgar Cayce; then we slip into the well with Saturn Darkhope from Pennies In The Well; and reminisce about the days before brain implants, with The Encaffeinated One from The Weird Show; then we tune in to a radio commercial that talks about the Tikaboo Valley Bar and Grill, which doesn’t exist (just up the road from Area 51, which also doesn’t exist) that serves sauteed bovine rectums (with your choice of fries or salad) to aliens; and then another robot gets bludgeoned into scrap metal.

Rikki then introduces Shibaten Spirits and calls him up in Tokyo, Japan (but gets, what we suppose, is a Japanese answering machine).  We then listen to a classic Shibaten song, and then try Shibaten on the phone again (but get what sounds like goddamned Japanese ghosts with a Grudge!).

We then make a Qabalistic pilgrimage to the High Priestess of the Tarot with Oraia Sphinx, of Media Astra Ac Terra, through her ongoing Tarot series, Path Working.

Then, we brace ourselves, as we try Shibaten again (who informs us that he just got into a car accident, that Wolfgang blames Rikki for).

We then chat with Natalie Rubyhill, the founder and director of the Blue Raven Drummers (an all women drumming ensemble).  Another robot almost gets it during this chat.

We then try Shibaten, yet again … AND HAVE AN INTERVIEW!  Yay!

Rikki then thanks people, says bye, 93, etc, and goes away. (Outakes at the end again.)

December the 25th, 2010: The Yule Episode!

In this Kakisode, we try to get to the bottom of all things Yule, Saturnalian, and Christmassy; introduce a new gameshow called Spot The Muggle; and have a chat with Charlene Crough and the Firedance Drum Ensemble.

Here’s how the episode plays out:

First we delve deep into the ancient origins of this festival, that everyone around the world seems to celebrate to this day, and we explore the various pre-Jesus Jesi to whom this festival is dedicated, and who all share the same birthdays and life stories.

Next, we take a look at the Saturnalian origins of Christmas.  Lawrence Kelemen explains.

Then, we learn a bit about Saint Nick, who is Turkish.

And then Frank Sinatra makes a baby cry by crooning a very scary Christmas song.  You know it.  This kicks off an exploration into Santa’s old gang … before the elves.  Apparantly, he used to hang with the worst kind of thugs and underworld characters, back when he still used to dress like a bishop.  He used to whack kids with his crosier too!

Next, we learn a bit about Odin Claus and his eight legged flying horse.  No, not at a circus side-show, but in ancient times.  But after Christianization, Odin seems to have beligerantly begun calling himself Father Christmas, and rode a goat instead.

And then, we take a look at Santa’s immigration to New Amsterdam, and his new career in home invasions throughout North America.  We discover that he had diminished to Smurf size, as neglected gods tend to do, but once he started modelling for Coca Cola, the rest is history.  He fattened right up, and moved to his new home at the Top Of The World.

We next hear from Witchdoctor Utu of the Dragon Ritual Drummers, and Oraia Sphinx from Media Astra Ac Terra, try to spot a muggle in a new gameshow, hear a commercial about ritual prophylactics, Chris Orapello and a couple of pepperpots from The Infinite and the Beyond.

We then listen to some belly-dancing music and chat with Charlene Crough and members of the Firedance Drum Ensemble.

Rikki then has to go back to celebrating, says thank you, and bye, and 93 etc, and that’s about it, except for some bloopers at the very end.

WARNING: If you prefer to believe that Rikki LaCoste went missing just before Halloween 2010, following a ritual that went horribly wrong, and that a full month later, after all of the efforts of friends and family to light his way home, and all of the strange supernatural events related to his disappearance, that he re-emerged naked and disoriented on the streets of Toronto, was arrested and placed in a mental health ward, before finally coming home … then read no further. The following is a Spoiler, and provides an alternate ending to this disturbing Fourth Wall Drama.
