Kakophonos Episode 06 – Drums and Voodoo

The Kakophonos PanadalahSeptember 23rd, 2010

We are in the process of moving the Kak-Quarters, so please forgive the lateness of this episode.  Again.

On this day, the enigmatic Seeress of Prevorst was born.  Rikki LaCoste talks about the brief yet fascinating life of this somnambulistic seeress.

The Maestro, Poke Runyon, the host of the Hermetic Hour then pipes in http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-hermetic-hour, followed by Tamurile, the host and bartender of Godbox Cafe http://www.godboxcafe.com/.

Wolfgang then attempts to contact his mother Helga at a seance after eating a lot of spicy burritos and a crate of Vril Stein Brüe.

We then hear a powerful piece played by the Dragon Ritual Drummers http://www.dragonritualdrummers.com/ called “Dance of the Roma.”

We talk with Witchdoctor Utu, the creator and director of the DRD about frightening the bejeesus out of a couple of Jehova’s Witness “hotties” when they catch a glimpse of the inside of his house … and other important issues … such as the Niagara Voodoo Shrine, Serpent Power, the Maid of the Mist, the movie Strafe, and Sumerian Cowboys.  Their song “Shango” plays in the background.

Then, Chris Orapello, the host of The Infinite and the Beyond http://infinitebeyond.libsyn.com/ says “Blessed Be and 93″ at us again, followed by a word from singing pirate Gypsy Taonax, the sea-faring lass of Moonie’s Bay.

Oraia Sphinx of Madia Astra Ac Terra http://sphinx.libsyn.com/ then takes us further into the Tarot wilderness in our joint ongoing series PathWorking. This episode we visit the Magician, and explore the joys of saying ”offputting.”

Rikki then makes some more excuses, rambles on about something, asks for money, thanks people, and prostrates himself embarrasingly.

Wolf is on Facebook!!! He reads Runes now.  Friend him and give him a try.  I dare you.

A Wolfgang comic strip is coming!  Brace yourselves.

In the meanwhile, we will be regularly posting an old and much endeared comic by Rikki LaCoste and Bill Harran, first published when unicorns roamed the earth.  Little Al Crowley:

The Dragon Ritual Drummers close the show with “Serpentine Seduction.”

This episode was dedicated to Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.

Kakophonos Episode 05 – Drums and Tarot

The Kakophonos PanadalahAugust 12th, 2010.  Isaac Bonewits’ Greater Feast.

Here is the long delayed episode.  Finally!  First, Rikki gives us a lame excuse for the show’s lateness, actually blaming a god for his own shortcomings.

Rikki raves about Kaleidoscope Gathering and Wiccanfest festivals that we attended, and the Firedance Drumming festival that we lamentably didn’t.

The Standing Stone and Garden Gate Podcast also attended the festivals, and we strongly recommend that you listen to their last 3 episodes: a two-parter about Kaleidoscope Gathering, and a memorial episode dedicated to Isaac Bonewits: http://www.stonegatepodshow.net/

This is the day that Isaac Bonewits passed into the Great Here And Now.  Rikki shares the words of a couple of Isaac’s Dearest: Phaedra Bonewits and Ian Corrigan.

Next, is the further installment of the Vril Stein Brue Commercial saga, titled Schweine Kops.  Oraia Sphinx of Media Astra Ac Terra podcast and Cinnabar Blayde of Godbox Cafe podcast make cameo appearances in the commercial.  Can you spot them?

Next, Panthea explores hand percussion around a bon fire with a segment of their piece Fire Jam, while crickets get into the groove.

This kick-starts our percussion series planned for the next few episodes.  This episode, we talk with the folks responsible for the Drum Circle for Global Unity.  Unfortunately, this episode is so late in being released that it is out the day before the actual event!  Fortunately, they plan to do this every year.

All the immediate details you need to know is that it happens simultaneously around the globe on September the 18th, at exactly 2pm EST, and will continue, based on the Heart Beat, for eight minutes.  All further relevant information can be found on their website at http://drumforglobalunity.com/

A real gem in this interview is The Drummer’s Creed by Shea Springford.  Check it out.

Oraia Sphinx is the creator and host of one of our most favourite podcasts, Media Astra Ac Terra. The subject matter of her show is right up our alley. The mystical and the esoteric practically integrated with the physical exploration of the formative universe in which we live. Her podcast is, in our opinion, an honest and educational foray into what some of us understand as a Hermetic universe. As above, so below. As without, so within. As astrological, so astronomical. As spiritual, so physical. As astra, so terra. You get the point.  http://sphinx.libsyn.com/

Oraia, we are delighted to announce, has graciously accepted our invitation to come and drop by every month, and share with us some of the treasures from her particular journey, in a new Kakophonos segment called PathWorking. This will be an intriguing guided tour through the voluptuous wilds of the Tarot. I hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we do.

And finally, we close the show with a song by Panthea named Apple Seed, which is played using an obscure traditional Iberian square frame drum called an Adufe.

Hopefully we’ll be able to release the next episode actually within the month it is dated for!

Please feel free to write.  rikki@kakophonos.com.  We love mail.  We’ll even read some of them on the air on future episodes.  Even the nasty ones.

And now, I’m going to hold my hat out.  Please donate so that we can continue doing these shows for you.  You can either donate by:

1. intellectual donations, which is script or concept ideas for the show,

2. cash donations, which could be a bucket load of money with a nice ribbon around it,

3. or by electronic donation through PayPal to Kakophonos Productions.

We hope the show has been worth listening to so far.

This episode was dedicated to Isaac Bonewitz.  Catching some sun in the Summerlands.

Kakophonos Episode 04, part 2 – Astrology and Vikings

The Kakophonos PanadalahThis is the second half of Kakophonos, Episode 4.  You’re probably wondering what the heck is going on.  Well, download and listen to the first half, and all will be explained.

For those of you who are new to Kakophonos Internet Radio, you will be able to find more fun and captivating episodes on iTunes, and, once we resolve our hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing provider issues, and perhaps after this very busy festival season, we will be back with more.  As usual, expect the unexpected.

You know, Juni, from the Standing Stone and Garden Gate podshow, who has been tremendously supportive and helpful during this transitional time for us, consoled me last night while I was busy smashing a plank against my forehead, and suggested, “Take it as one of those ‘The gods close a door but open a window’ situations.”

You know, I think I will.

Anyway, in the first half of episode 4, when we left you hanging, Franco Minatel was droning on and on about something boring … but we now resume with more exciting topics, including Bucket Divination.  Yes that’s right.  Bucket.

And then my Barfic, uh, Bardic friend, Hobbes, tells us about his upcoming gig.  From his website, http://shorteningtheroad.blogspot.com/

here is the info:  http://www.documentia.ca/storyteller/store.html

And finally, to close the show, we pay homage to Graham Chapman, to whom this episode is dedicated.

Kakophonos Episode 04, part 1 – Astrology and Vikings

The Kakophonos PanadalahJuly 13th, 2010.  Happy Birthday John Dee!

On this vivisected episode, Wolfgang the Viking playfully aquaints himself with vinyl.  We then celebrate John Dee’s birthday, using candles made from the wax of his Seal of God;  be a fly on the wall in the livingroom of a couple of philosophical pepperpots;  rudely interrupt a Pagan Owl; begin an interview with musician, astrologer, and dimentional management engineer, Franco Minatel, when we suddenly, inexplicably, stop.

Kakophonos Episode 03 – Anubis and Synchronicity

The Kakophonos PanadalahJune 13th, 2010.  Happy Birthday Gerald Gardner!

In this episode we find out a little bit about Gerald Gardner’s life. Then we explore the psycho-spiritual dangers when we leave home without our Atziluth Express Traveller’s Cheques.  We then meet Saturn Darkhope and her podcast, Pennies in the Well.  Wolfgang the Viking then expresses his disappointment of the fact that he will not be appearing in this episode.  Devin Johnstone then waxes philosophical with us, and plays some awesome music.  We are then introduced to Oraia Sphinx and her amazing podcast, Media Astra Ac Terra, and Chris Orapello’s The Infinite And The Beyond, which uncannily steps on the Kak show’s toes, and vice versa.  Then Matthew Clooney scares the bejeezus out of us again, this time with his compelling story about when he met Anubis. Rikki then prostrates himself humbly, in thanks, and we close the show with Devin Johnstone’s piece, Cactus Wine: another song by Devin that occasionally makes Rikki cry like a little girl.

This episode was dedicated to Dorothea Rosedale, also known as Donna to her friends.  May you never be forgotten.

Kakophonos Episode 02 – BARD WARS: The Scrumpire Strikes Back

The Kakophonos PanadalahMay 8th 2010.  Happy White Lotus Day!  And Happy V-Day!

In this episode, Wolfgang the Viking listens to a very operatic answering machine message.  Then we learn a little bit about Madamme Blavatsky.  Next, we follow Steve Irwin into the afterlife as he hunts for Scottish Gryphons on the shores of Loch Ness.  Then we talk with the Bard, Doug the Ferryman, who wound up monopolizing pretty much the remainder of the show, as Bards tend to do.  We then hear a promo by the Ferryman’s arch enemy and dearest friend, JD Hobbes, from his podcast Shortening The Road.  And finally, musician Devin Johnstone, closes the show with his enchanting piece, Starlight, which often makes Rikki cry.

This episode was dedicated to Steve Irwin.  Keep hunting mate!

Kakophonos Episode 01 – Fairies or Aliens? Fey or Grey?

The Kakophonos PanadalahApril the 8th, 2010, Liber AL Day Episode. This is the reincarnation of Kakophonos Internet Radio.
In this episode, Rikki rudely interrupts Kako-co-founder, Rod MacPherson, in mid-sentence, and yaps on about the history, concept, and future of Kakophonos. Then Wolfgang the Viking tries to force-feed beer to a teetotaler (unsuccessfully: never fear) in a Vril Stein Brüe commercial. And then Rikki talks about the features of Kakophonos, before we hear a super-metaphorical Standing Stone And Garden Gate podshow promo. Next, we begin to have a pretty cool conversation with pagan rocker, Thoth Ganesh, when he finds out what the definition of “kakophonos” is, and he promptly hangs up. So, we go to a very lame commercial: Esotericon. We next have a fantastic and often disturbing conversation with medium, Matthew Clooney, who does not hang up.

This episode was dedicated to Deo’s Shadow. We miss you.
